These settings determine how user accounts are created and handled.
The Allow users to create accounts for themselves setting allows visitors to your site the ability to create a user account by using the logon screen. The new user is automatically assigned to all default user groups. If the setting is turned off, the only method for creating user accounts is by using the Exponent menu.
The Use an email address instead of a username setting determines whether the email address is used as user account names.
The Disable User Request Password Change Feature prevents users from being able to change the password for their user account.
The Notify a site administrator when a new user registers on your website setting determines if an email is sent to the email address when a new user is created.
- The Subject of the administrator's new user notification sets the email subject for a new user email
- The Email address of administrator that should be notified when a user signs up is the address to send this new user email.
The New User Welcome Message setting determines if an email is sent to the new user after creating a new account
- Welcome Email Subject setting sets the email subject for a new user welcome email.
- Welcome Email Content is the content of the new user welcome email.
The LDAP Authentication settings allow you to use an LDAP server to perform user validation. This allows users in a corporate environment to maintain the same username/password across their server/web site. If activated, user accounts will automatically be added to Exponent when a an LDAP user successfully authenticates with the LDAP server the first time. NOTE: PHP LDAP support must be enabled (php ldap module loaded) These settings are only visible if the server feature is activated! User profiles may be manually configured for LDAP authentication by selecting the 'Use LDAP Authentication' setting in the user profile. LDAP Authentication user accounts will be authenticated remotely through the LDAP server and NOT by Exponent.
- The Turn on LDAP Authentication setting activates this option
- The LDAP Server is the IP address or url/name of the server to use
- The Base Context is the Active Directory groupings to locate LDAP users within the remote directory.
- The Base Domain is the server suffix which is added to the user name to log into the LDAP server.
