Configuration of an Exponent CMS Web Site
Overview
In addition to placing content on your web site, you'll want to customize your web site using the configuration settings.
Site Configuration Guide
-

These are the basic settings for the web site that determine it's overall identity.
... -
Anti-Spam Measures
-
These are the settings to determine if an anti-spam measure will be employed on the web site (not to be confused with security settings). This can be used to help prevent your web site being used to flood the world with spam. Currently the only method is using reCAPTCHA.
... -
User Registration
-
These settings determine how user accounts are created and handled.
... -
User Comment Policies

These settings determine how comments in the affected modules are handled on the web site.
... -
Mail Server Settings

These settings select and configure the File Manager used to manage files (traditional or elFinder) available to the web site content.

Display Settings

These settings determine the character of the web site and how the pages and items are displayed.
... -
Site Maintenance Mode Settings
-
These settings determine the "online" status of the web site and the message displayed for non-admin users. When maintenance mode is turned on (also available from the "Exponent" menu) the site appears "offline" and can only be accessed by administrators. The Maintenance Mode Message is displayed on the maintenance page. Additionally you may display a Countdown Clock for when the site will return. This does NOT automatically take the site out of maintenance mode, but is simply a method to display a countdown clock on the maintenance page.
... -
Security Settings

These settings help prevent "hacking" your web site (not to be confused with anti-spam).
... -
Help Link Settings

These settings tie your web site to the documentation found on this site.
... -

This setting selects and configures the What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) and Code Snippet editor(s) used to edit content on the web site. It also allows customization of the editor 'skin', buttons, and other options. Currently, CKEditor and TinyMCE are the available editors.
... -

These settings allow you to customize the error messages displayed to the user when these issues are encountered. It also allows page redirection to be handled within Exponent using Page Redirection settings found on the Manage Pages screen. Additionally you may enter the error pages url set up on the web server to be handled by Exponent instead.
... -

-
To enable PDF Generation in Exponent, you'll need to install a PDF Generation Engine. We currently support four different engines:

These are setting which deal specifically with using the site for eCommerce.
... -
Configuration Profiles
-
Site Configuration Settings may be saved as configuration 'profiles' and then used to restore the site configuration settings later. This can be especially useful in a testing environment where you might want to test changes or customizations against several databases or themes.
