Modules Available in Exponent CMS

Overview

In this area you'll find information about each of the content modules available in Exponent CMS.  Modules must first be 'activated' to become available for adding to a page.  By default, the only active module after a new installation without sample content is the 'Text' module.

Addresses

The Addresses module allows the user to view and manage personal address primarily used with the eCommerce service for shipping and billing.

The Banners module is used to manage advertisements and click throughs.

Blog

The Blog module allows a user to manage an online journal or series of articles or posts. Comments can be moderated.

Code Snippets

The Code Snippets module is a basic module used to add text to web sites without the rich text editor -- Perfect for inserting HTML code snippets.  Otherwise it's equivalent to the Text module.

Container

The Container module is used to hold other modules. Each page has at least one container to hold other modules which are used to display items on that page.

Countdown

The Countdown module displays a running countdown timer to a specific date/time with a user specific message upon arrival..

e-Commerce Manufacturer Listings

The Manufacturer Listings module allows the management and display of companies or affiliates.  It's normally used in conjunction with the Banners module or e-Commerce.  In most cases there is no need to activate this module as it is accessed by those modules.

e-Commerce Online Donations

The Online Donations module is used to accept donations.  It is a specialized e-Commerce store and requires e-Commerce be first set up.  Information to set up an e-Commerce store can be found on the e-Commerce Configuration tab of Site Configuration.  

e-Commerce Online Event Registration

The Online Donations module allows users to register for paid events.  It is a specialized e-Commerce store and requires e-Commerce be first set up. Information to set up an e-Commerce store can be found on the e-Commerce Configuration tab of Site Configuration.  

e-Commerce Shopping Cart

This module allows your site to display a snapshot of the customer's current shopping cart on the page.

e-Commerce Store Front

The e-Commerce Store Front module is the main user interface into the eCommerce store.  e-Commerce documentation is limited at this time, however Exponent e-Commerce is fully operational on many sites.  Information to set up an e-Commerce store can be found on the e-Commerce Configuration tab of Site Configuration.

Events

The Events Module is used to manage and display events on web sites.  It has many different views and contains features such as recurring events, iCalendar support, and a send reminder feature.  Events may be tagged and/or categorized.

Exponent As A Service

The Exponent As A Service (EAAS) module allows external programs such as Android or iOS apps to retrieve data from the web site as JSON.

Facebook

The Facebook module allows interacting and display of 'Likes' from a Facebook account. You can either display a 'Like' button used to 'Like' the site, page, or custom url, or you may display a 'Like Box' which will display recent statuses from your Facebook page.

The File Downloads module is used to upload and manage files intended to be available for download.

The Frequently Asked Questions module is used to manage and display an FAQ and allow users to ask questions.

Help!

The Help! module manages and displays help for the site. It's primary use is to set up the help site referenced in the web site configuration.

Link Manager

The Link Manager module is used to manage and display collections of links to web sites.  It can also be used to create custom navigation pages for links to internal pages when the navigation module doesn't suit the need..

Login Manager

The Login module displays links or allows the user to log in or manager their account if logged in already..

Media Player

The Media Player module is used to display Internet-Friendly media content in a similar manner despite the browser/platform being used.  It can be used to display or play, mp3, mp4, m4v,webm, ogv, flv, f4v files, or youtube links.

Message of the Day

The Message of the Day module manages and displays a date-specific (month/day) one-line message or can optionally pull up a random message if no date-specific message is available.

Navigation

The Navigation module is used to display pages and sub-pages which have been created in the sites hierarchy..There are many views available to show where you are, and various groupings of links of pages arranged to show parents, children and grandchildren pages.

News

The News module does just what it's name implies. It allows you to add news to your website. It also has the added ability of letting you syndicate your new via RSS, or pull RSS syndicated news into your site.

Not Found Controller (Not a User module)

The Not Found Controller is NOT a user module, but is how the system works to tie in any addresses not found with the search system.

The Photo Album allows a user to post and manage images as albums, galleries, or slideshows.

Portfolio

The Portfolio module allows management and display of lists of items on your site.  This could include lists of text, files, or graphics.  You can also select a list sorting method .

Recycle Bin Manager (Not a User module)

The Recycle Bin Manager is NOT a user module, but is how the system manages deleted modules which have been archived and can be restored from the Add New Container view.

The RSS Syndication module is used to Display a list of all RSS feeds on the site.

The Search Form module displays a search input box for searching the site.

Simple Poll

The Simple Poll module is used to ask a visitor one question with multiple answers. It can manage multiple questions, though it only displays one.

Social Feed

The Social Feed module attempts to aggregate posts from various social feeds.

Text

The Text module is the basic module used to add static text and graphics to web sites.  It can also be used to display multiple "chunks" of text called text items all at once, in tabs, or as a randomly chosen item.  The text module uses a What-you-see-is-what-you-get or WYSIWYG editor which allows great flexibility with styles.

Twitter

The Twitter module allows the display of tweets from a twitter account.
